Why do prison inmates get ostracized for certain crimes?

August 8th, 2009 | by admin |
Toni asked:

It makes sense that a crime that makes big news that is a particularly heinous crime would cause that inmate to get ostracized in prison, because it’s in the news.

However, some inmates commit ugly crimes that would not make big time news – so why would they get ostracized? How do other inmates know what crime they committed?
