What are good programs to help inmates reintegration into society?

most of them live in fear while being incarcerated, only the insane are having a really good time behind bars.
programs that give people a purpose, keeping them busy with useful skill building, learning self esteem, feeling adequate, anything worthy, something that could help them feel confident when they get released and will learn how to problem solve in a field or trade.
let them have choices (of different jobs) so they feel part of plan.
most of them want to work while there but most do nothing at all & grow dark and dreary minded.
first of all they need to know that when they are released that they will have a place to rest their head and not be kicked to the curb by being homeless…..then while inside they will learn to adjust easier
