Why were the heads of the concentration camp inmates shaved?

October 31st, 2009
Ray Patterson-the dude is not in asked:

In the Nazi concentration camps, the inmates were shaved bald. Why? Many would be killed almost immediately, and as far as I can gather they were still shaved bald. What purpose did that serve?

How prevalent is rape in prisons, and how often are inmates prosecuted or otherwise punished for it?

October 3rd, 2009
G asked:

I’m curious about rape in prisons since it is one of the most serious possible crimes, and is probably worse than most of the crimes for which the inmates are in prison in the first place. Sometimes MUCH worse.

So, is it as ubiquitous as it seems in the media? And do inmates get prosecuted, or do authorities look the other way completely?

Thanks.

Is It True That In Prison That Other Inmates Look Down On Child Molestors, Rapists, and Serial Killers?

September 16th, 2009
Melissa L asked:

I was just wondering where this comes from and if it is true?

What are some reasons why other inmates don’t want to be around inmates like Ted Bundy who was secluded?

Are people like that threats to the inmates or threats from the inmates; or both?

Thanks so much!

By the way, I went to the website for the jail and there’s no option for searching inmates.

What was the show title on the History Channel talking about LSD experiments on prison inmates?

August 27th, 2009
John Holliday asked:

The show covered the CIA’s research on LSD for use as a truth serum, or to create a Manchurian Candidate. It also discussed the death of Frank Olson. In regards to the LSD experiments on prison inmates, they told of how the inmates were primarily black and were rewarded with heroine. Can anybody tell me the name of this particular program? Also, can anyone provide credible sources of information on these occurrences?

What to do with convicted inmates in prison?

August 13th, 2009
TJ asked:

There are many ideas as to what we should do to people in prison. One idea is to make them join the armed forces, but then we’ve just given people we convicted guns. Not a good mix. Then someone mentioned using them as slaves, but then we have to mend some laws. Or we could just speed up the proces on death row, an save us taxpayers some money. Without having to feed the inmates, or keep them housed and all that, it only saves us money. Or we can keep our overcrowding, smelly, ineffective, revolving door policies that we currentlt have. Opinions or thoughts?
